We have finally made it back to Paris! Yesterday Linda and Mary, Jean Claude’s and Louis’ wife’s joined them and us at the hotel. My dad and Louis had some work to do so Linda took me back to the wood market so I could get a few more things. I am so excited about some of it! I got a picture made up of butterfly’s wings. It is beautiful. It is of two women with babies on their backs cooking next to a hut. Then we went back to the hotel and we all went to the restaurant and had lunch. Then we went back to the hotel and had about 4 hours to kill so while my dad was working, Kurt, Mike and I played Hearts while Jan took a nap. We played three games and each won once. It was then time to go to the airport. We got to the airport around 6 and got to the gate around 7:30 and our plane didn’t board until 10:10. I watched The Cosby Show on my laptop. We finally boarded around 10:30 and were supposed to take off at 11:10. Well, there were some problems and we didn’t take off until 12:50. I watched a whole movie sitting in the plane waiting to take off. Thankfully our flight out of Paris doesn’t leave until 11 so we still got here in plenty of time. I was a goofball and checked my cord to my laptop and my laptop needed to be charged. Thankfully there is a nice young man who had a cord that works with my laptop so I am charging it as I type. We will board in an hour or so and then head to Atlanta! I can’t wait to get home! I have really enjoyed this trip and the memories I have made. I have enjoyed the time I have gotten to spend with my dad. But I am ready to be back in America. Ready to get back to my normal routine and deal with my crazy but wonderful children and see my fantastic, wonderful, amazing, sexy husband!!!!!! I may write more in Atlanta but am not sure. Till next time! Ciao!

Yesterday we left Kumba and traveled back to Douala. We left the hotel before 8 and got here around 11:30. We then put our stuff in our hotel rooms. It is the same hotel we stayed in when we got here at the beginning of the trip. My dad stays here every trip so he knows all the workers by name. We then went to the wood market and I got all kinds of things for me and my kids and Dean. We are going back today because we have some time to kill before our flight and there are a few other things I want to get. We then went to eat lunch. We went to the same place we ate at before and we will eat there again today. They have really good burgers. I don’t know for sure what the difference is but I think it is the ketchup and mustard. They have a slightly different taste then ketchup and mustard in the states. Whatever it is, the burger is really good! I also got some ice cream. I will have ice cream again today and then will be pretty much done eating sweets. When I get back I really need to get back to eating healthy. I don’t think I have put on any weight while here, Lord willing, but I haven’t had a lot of choice in what I can eat. Don’t get me wrong, I have eaten very well! There has always been plenty of food and it has been good every single time. But I am looking forward to my Pecanberry salad when I get home! That is my favorite salad in the world! It is from McAlister’s Deli. It has dark leafy greens, blueberries, strawberries, grilled chicken, and candied pecans with a raspberry-pecan vinagraite dressing, and then I add dried cranberries and a few croutons! YUMMY!!!!!!! I recreate it at home too, but usually with almonds instead of pecans.

Anyway, after we had lunch we came back to the hotel and I took a hot bath and then me, Kurt, Jan, and Mike played spades. It is a card game in case you don’t know. We played two games. Jan and I were on a team and Mike and Kurt were on a team. Well, we trounced them once and they trounced us once. J It was fun! Then we went to our own rooms. I spent the rest of the evening relaxing and got to skype with my kids and Dean. Have I said how much I love them? And how much I miss them? Well I do!!!! I can’t wait to see them!!!! In less than 48 hours I will be in my husband’s arms. I can’t wait!

So our flight does not leave until 11:10 pm tonight so we have a lot of time to kill. My dad has a lot of work to do with Louis but the rest of us are on our own. Jean Claude and his wife and Louis’ wife will be here too and they will take us back to the wood market. We will leave the hotel at 6 to head to the airport. I might be able to post another blog at the airport in France. We have a 5 hour layover there. Love to you all!!

Today was our last day of evangelism. I worked with the Mile 1 congregation again. I taught the children in Sunday school and then we had one study and she gave her life to the Lord in baptism! Afterward I rode a machine back to the hotel and took a cold shower and now am resting until dinner time. Tomorrow morning we will head back to Douala and go to the wood market. Tuesday we head to the airport to head home!!!!! I cannot WAIT to see my husband and kids! Be prepared, Dean, for me to jump on you when I see you! J

The first picture is of a little baby I got to hold today! I think his name was Nabal. He was so precious!!!! The second picture is of me and Jean Claude with Esther. She is the one who was baptized today. The third picture is of me and Jean Claude sitting in the same seat in the front of a taxi. That is how they do it here. They will put four in the back and four in the front a lot of times. That means there is someone to the LEFT of the driver. Yes you heard me right. I said the left. I haven’t seen it but would sure like to. The fourth picture is a panoramic of the church during worship. And the last picture is of me with the church in Mile 1. Thank you for all your prayers! This has been an amazing experience! I will write more tomorrow. Love to you all!

Today I met with the church in Mile 1. Unfortunately they were really not prepared. We didn’t have any prospects to teach. However we were able to hear a wonderful lesson from Jean Claude, we got to sing lots of hymns and we did restore a man who had left God and desired to return to Him. We then got on machines and went and visited Jean Claude’s wife’s aunt and her daughter. I am sad to say I didn’t ask their names or if I did I have forgotten them. Here are some pictures though. The first picture is of me and Stephanie! I have met myself! J The second picture is of me and JC’s wife’s cousin, and the third is of the place where the church meets. This is a new and small congregation. The room is about the size of William’s bedroom. Anyway, we are now back at the hotel and will wait for the others to return. We will have dinner at 5 tonight. I cannot post this until my dad gets back because he has the modem. I will try to skype with Dean then but if I cannot I will skype with him tomorrow. Tomorrow will be our last work day. JC and I will meet with Mile 1 for worship and I will teach the children. If there are prospects to teach we will teach them. If not we will come back and I will be done with the mission work part of my trip. Monday we will travel back to Douala and will go to the wood market. Then Tuesday we will head to the airport and fly home! I am very excited to see my family again! I have enjoyed my time here immensely and will always and forever cherish the memories but I am ready to be back with my family. I only miss the creature comforts a little. I mean, my hotel room has A/C, I am eating well (though not any veggies L) and I have a bathroom I can use most of the time. J But I will enjoy being back in my bed and in my car. The people here are so nice!!! They really make you feel welcome! Thanks for the prayers! Love you all!

Today was a great day! We got up, had a devo, and then ate breakfast. Then Kurt, Jan, Jean Claude, Vincent and I got into the same taxi that we rode in yesterday. I got to Three Corners around 10:30. We had worship and I immediately started teaching. I had 2 studies back to back and the first one was baptized. We then had some down time and I went around the room and greeted each person and asked them their names. I don’t remember most of them now. There were so many! Then I went outside and greeted some of the sisters that were outside. We started talking and I really had a good time with them. They asked me if I had a camera and I said yes! So I got my camera and took a picture of the group of women. Then the men started coming outside asking if I was going to include them! I said sure! I wanted to take a picture of the whole church. Then one of the women informed me that the men wanted a picture with just them since the women got one! LOL! So of course I obliged them and then took a picture of the whole church. Then all the women wanted their pictures taken so I was snapping pictures left and right! We were having a good ole time. J They then brought in a big batch of rice for everybody. I took one bite and about lost it! It was soooooo spicy!!!!! I then politely declined. They all had a good laugh. J At around 2:30 I had another prospect. I taught a total of 3 with one baptism and Vincent studied with 2 with one baptism. By four Kurt was there to collect us. The preacher’s wife had a gift for me so I went to her house and she gave me a dress! It is tailored and it fits! I will wear it to church on Sunday and will wear it when my dad does his report to Buckingham. We got back to the hotel around 5 and I took a nice cold shower, and then talked with my dad for a while and then we went and had supper. I am now about to skype with my honey and two of my kiddos!!! The first picture below is one of me with all the women. The second is the men. The third is the whole church. The fourth is me and Vincent. The fifth is me and some of the younger girls. They were asking me questions about my husband and kids and wanted to see pictures of them. The sixth is me and one of the little girls. And the last picture is me and some of the women. I am going to sign off now. Thanks for the prayers! Love to you all!

Today I worked with the church in Three Corners. I got up at 7 and got dressed. We had our devo with the team at 8. Then we had breakfast. I just had some bread with butter and jelly. Then we rode machines to what they would call a “bus stop”. We can’t take pictures in there but boy do I wish I could. You just can’t even imagine it. We got two taxis. One for my dad and Mike and Louis and one for me, Jean Claude, Vincent, Jan and Kurt. Jean Claude and Vincent basically sat up front in a seat made for one person. It was a long and bumpy ride. I took some video that I will show to some of you when I get back. You can’t even imagine. They dropped me and Vincent off first, then Jan and Jean Claude and then Kurt kept the taxi until it was time to pick us all up. I have to say I wish I could ride a machine EVERYWHERE!!!! They can avoid potholes and bumps that taxis just can’t and you get more breeze. Anyway, we got to the church around 10:45 and had a worship service and then there were prospects to teach. I taught non stop. I shoved a peanut butter cracker in my mouth between lessons. I never got up from my seat. I studied with 5 and 2 were baptized. Vincent interpreted for me for a while but then had another guy interpret for me so he could teach some too. He taught two and one was baptized. We were done shortly after four and Kurt was there to pick us up. We then went to pick up Jan and JC and drove back to the hotel. I took a shower, got my clean laundry, and am now sitting here typing trying to connect to facebook. We will eat supper shortly and then I will rest for the rest of the night. Last night I had to up my A/C because I got too cold. It is amazing the stuff you appreciate from home when you are here. I can’t wait to drive/ride on roads that are not filled with potholes and sleep in my own soft bed! Of course the thing I am looking forward to most is seeing my husband and kiddos! I miss them! I am enjoying my time here immensely but am looking forward to seeing my family soon. I love you all and thank you for your prayers! Here is a picture of just one of the roads we have ridden on and a “neighborhood” we have passed in our travels.

We went last night to see the children at the orphanage. There were a lot!! They were not shy either. As soon as we were out of the cars they bombarded us! One little girl probably between 6-8 grabbed me by the waist and lifted her feet up off the ground! I have some pictures I will post to show you but somehow the setting got changed so some of them are a little fuzzy. It was so much fun! The kids started singing song after song. I knew about 3 of them. And then two of them prayed. It was amazing to see these children who don’t have families or much of anything be so happy and joyful! It really opens my eyes to how much I have! You should really be thankful for all you have and not complain about what you don’t because there are those out there with a lot less than you! These children were so beautiful! Diana the woman who runs the orphanage is really a saint! She is truly doing the Lord’s work. Taking care of the orphans! She said she had about 40 when we asked her. We left her some rice and candy and gave her some money. I would loved to have stayed longer but we had to get back. The first picture is of me with two of the kids on my lap. They clamored to touch you or sit on your lap. They touched my hair and my ring. They were constantly hugging you or putting their arms around your neck. The second picture is of a girl I will call giggles. J She sat next to me and would smile so big and so I tickled her a little and she laughed and laughed! She was so adorable! The third is a picture of my dad with some of the kids. We were so blessed to be able to go there and see them!

I always write my blog before the day is over. Last night after I posted I rested in my room until dinner. As I said before that day was slow and we got to the hotel early. We had the same dinner that we have had every night: Chicken, rice, French fries. They did however bring some fruit today. It was really good and the chicken was really good. I then spent some time with my dad in his room as my room’s light did not work. I skyped with Dean before dinner for a while but the connection was not great. I might get to skype with him again today but am not sure. I went to bed about 11 pm and got up this morning around 6:30. We packed up the taxis at 7:15 and left around 7:30. We had to take 4 taxis because the bus we had used before was broken down. It was a pretty uneventful trip except for all the bouncing around. Boy do I have a new appreciation for the roads back home!!!!! I don’t think I will complain about a pothole ever again!! We got to the hotel here in Kumba around 9:45. It is a really nice hotel. My room has A/C and the lights all work! I even have a desk and chair where I can sit to type my blogs. J I also have a patio but if I open the door the A/C drips on me. The hotel in Ekondo Titi (pronounced teetee) was more like a motel. You open your door and you are outside. Here it is an actual hotel where you open your door to a hallway. We are all upstairs except for Mike and Jan. They don’t have elevators here and I am not sure Mike could handle going up and down the stairs as much as he would have to. Before we left Ekondo Titi we got our wash back. My stuff was damp but I laid it out and it dried by morning.

Anyway, after we got in our rooms we went to the market to get rice and candy for the kids at the orphanage we are going to visit later today. I am so excited to see the kids! If American children behaved like African children I would be much more willing to teach. And if American parents acted like African parents. :-/ We also got any food for ourselves that we wanted. I still have plenty that I brought with me so I just got one dark chocolate bar and an ice cream bar that I ate right then and a cold water that I drank right then too. Then Louis took me to the other part of the market so I could buy a headband to keep my hair out of my face. I didn’t see any African looking ones but I got a yellow one that looks like the ones I use back home when I go to the gym. It will work just fine. I got to ride a machine to the market and back. I love it! It is so much fun. Here they don’t wear seat belts or helmets, but these drivers know what they are doing. If an American drove here we would either crash or avoid it only because the Africans would know how to miss us! Anyway, now we are waiting for lunch and then at 3 we will meet with the preachers of the churches we will be working with the next few days. I finally got my pictures on my computer so we will see if I can’t post some. I figured it out! So here are the pictures. The first one is of Joseph. He is the one who was baptized. Africans don’t smile unless you tell them to and I forgot to. The second picture is of one of the preachers daughters. Her name is Bridget. The third is of me on a machine in Douala. The fourth is of me and my dad in our rain boots. You needed to wear those because of all the mud. The fifth is of the church I worked with in Big Nganjo. The sixth is of the four boys I read to on Monday. And the seventh is of Louis. He is the one who interpreted for me these last three days. I will post more later about the orphanage. Love to you all!

Today was my last day working with the church in Big Nganjo. We had service at 10 am instead of 4 and we studied with one man afterward. He was not baptized by us. He said he was baptized already. We then went and picked up Jan and Vincent from Mbonge and came back to the hotel. I have taken a nice cold shower and am now trying to skype with Dean. I am being not too successful. We will leave tomorrow for Kumba and on Thursday and Friday I will work with a different church. I don’t have much else to report. Love you all and keep on praying. I am really enjoying my time here with the people and with my dad. It is really cool despite not having the comforts of home.

Today was another good day. I am really enjoying myself. I am even enjoying the bumpy roads and the cold showers. Well, maybe enjoy is not the right word, but I am just really happy to be here with my dad!! J I got up at 7 am our time and got dressed. Then we had a devo at 8 in my dads room. It was cool learning some of the African chorus’s they sing. They are really easy. The song leader sings it first and then you sing it again over and over so you learn it really well. Then some people at breakfast at the hotel. I sat with them and then sat outside talking to Jan and Mike while we waited for our rides to come and take us to our different churches. Our ride got here at around 10:30 and we dropped off Jan and Vincent in Mbonge and then me and Louis went to Big Nganjo. We got there around 11:30 and the church was locked up. Well, Louis went and found the keys. The preacher’s name is Augustin and he has 9 kids, 6 boys and 3 girls. Two of his kids are twins, one a boy and the other a girl. Their names are Wesley and Lesley. I told them that I also had a twin brother. Well, some of his boys brought the keys and opened the church. Then 4 of them stayed around and were playing in the church. Our first study wasn’t showing up until 1 so we had a lot of time to kill. Anyway, I was sitting there reading my bible and playing on my phone while these kids were playing and singing. And I thought, here I have a captive audience. Why don’t I see if they would like me to read to them. So I asked them and I am not actually sure if they understood me, but I started reading anyway. I read the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego and then the story of Jonah. Whether they understood me or not I don’t know but they sat still and listened! Kids in America would never do that! At least not my kids. Anyway then Augustin took me and showed me a cocoa tree and got one of the fruits and opened it up to let me taste it. When you open a cocoa fruit up it is white inside. It is sweet but doesn’t taste like what we call chocolate. But it was good. By 1:15 our study showed up. We talked with him for over an hour and he was not baptized. We had another study after that with a man named Joseph. He did accept and was baptized. There is a little river not too far away and we walked to it and the preacher baptized him!! It was pretty cool. I took pictures but still can’t figure out how to get my pictures onto my computer cause my computer tech is in America. J I will post lots of pictures when I get home. We then went back and listened to Louis preach. We will go back tomorrow and have service at 10 am. If there is no one to study with we will then come back to the hotel and decide what to do from there. When I got back to the hotel I took a cold shower and drank a lot of water. I don’t drink much during the day because I don’t want to have to use the bathroom. After that I laid down for about 20 minutes and rested. Then we went and had dinner. It has been the same every night pretty much. Chicken, rice, beans or French fries. I took a picture of the French fries cause they look nothing like what we consider French fries. But they were good. Tonight they also brought plantains and yams. The chicken is REALLY good. I always eat about 3 pieces! I will not be able to skype with Dean and Karson for the next four days or so cause when I can skype with them they will be at Day camp for Scouts or sleeping. Oh well. I will talk to them hopefully by Friday night. I will go to bed soon. Love to you all! And keep the prayers coming!
